Texmaker and TeXstudio ⇒ Characters not showing when TexMaker opens the file chooser

Hi! First of all, thanks for all the awesome work you do guys, this is a really nice repository of good knowledge. Keep up the good work!

Secondly, I've encountered a problem with my TexMaker. I don't really know if it's a problem related to TexMaker itself or maybe of my desktop environment and/or Linux system, but I haven't found anything related to it on the web.
We'll, I've mostly have explained all in the title. When opening a file chooser from TexMaker (for instance, opening a file from the TexMaker menu), characters show up as squares.
I think it may be a problem with character encoding or something like that, but no idea how to solve it whatsoever.



System details:
OS: Arch Linux 64-bit
DE: xfce4
Editor: TexMaker
