I have installed MikTex 2.5 (basic-miktex-i2.5.2580) in the suggested usual folder "C:\Program Files\MikTex 2.5"
and am trying to build my first "project" with TeXnicCenter. (For those who don't use TeXnicCenter that's just means I'm trying ot produce a dvi / ps file.)
When I do so, I get asked by TeXnicCenter to provide information about my local package repository.
I've tried all of the following:
a) "C:\Program Files\MikTex 2.5\miktex\bin"
b) "C:\Documents and Settings\[myusername]\Local Settings\Application Data\Miktex\2.5"
c) "C:\temp\IXP000.tmp"
But TeXnicCenter responds with the message " [path name above] " does not seem to be a local package repository.
Any suggestions where the local package repository is? Thanks in advance.
I've copied the MikTex Problem report below.

Re: locating local package repository MikTeX 2.5
I had similar problems in locating repository. I tried my best but was not able to locate them.
An easy solution would be to uninstall the basic version and install complete one.
it worked for me

You can choose the package repository in the MiKTeX options under the Packages tab.
Should you use a local repository, the two files starting with miktex-zzdb1 and miktex-zzdb2 must be present besides the package files in the folder you choose as package repository.

Re: locating local package repository MikTeX 2.5
Mine was here: C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\My Documents\ProTEXt\ProTeXt-2.2\MiKTeX\tm\packages
I found it by searching for miktex-zzdb1, and also that it already contained a large number of packages that hadn't been installed yet, including the one I wanted. To do that I used MiKTeX package manager and changed the repository to point to the folder above and then synchronized it. Then it was simply a matter of selecting the package from the list and hitting the install button.
If the package you want isn't in the folder then you should be able to download it.
