Welcome to the forum!

Yes, it's good to use it for mathematics. I used it a lot also simply for returning solutions to math assignments as a student. Actually LaTeX is great to produce assignments for students. There are great packages making exams or assignments easier, such as xsim. Ok, one has to read a package manual then, but reading how to apply and to use a package is much easier than creating a layout by oneself.
