showtrims is passed as an option and standard corner marks appear...
However, I need centre marks and the manual is extremely unclear.
Invoking e.g. \tmarkbm after \documentclass, after \checkandfixthelayout, after \begin{document} do not work [MiKTeX 2.7 & Memoir class packaged on 2009-09-24]
Could someone give me a working example of centre trims?

Re: Memoir trim marks
in the next release the center marks are visible by default, in the current release they are left for the reader.

Memoir trim marks
If you mean left the reader to implement that would agree with what I was told in comp.text.tex!daleif wrote:n the next release the center marks are visible by default, in the current release they are left for the reader.
May I ask how you know what's coming in the next release? Is there some status page that can be checked? If it is coming soon I'd be very pleased!

It will mostly be bug fixes and a few tweaks.
Given the size o memoir we are not adding much new feature anymore, we cover most of what is needed.
